Canada Historic Places Day – July 8, 2017

Enter History Here.

Canada Historic Places Day: we celebrated history on July 8, 2017!

Historic places tell us the stories that brought Canada to life, teach us about our heritage in a way history class can’t and, for some, give us a sense of identity. To celebrate these places, Parks Canada and the National Trust for Canada presented Canada Historic Places Day on July 8, 2017!

Canadians joined the national celebration by visiting historic places near them. They discovered cultural, indigenous and social history with other Canadians across the country.

Get out there!

But first, we took selfies (for a chance to win cash)! After taking pictures of yourselves at a historic place on July 8, you shared your stories on Instagram using the hashtag #HISTORICPLACESDAY for a chance to win $1,500. Here are the Contest details.

Register your site!

Without these places, there would be no Canada Historic Places Day! While it is no longer possible to register a historic site, check out the list of our participating sites here.

This project is made possible in part with support from Parks Canada Agency.
